To Bali we go to meet Pad & Ian for our last leg of Indonesia. Bali is, well Bali! Commercial, Costa del Oz but all part of the Indonesian experience. We organised to meet up with a Kiwi Experience friend in Marc from The Netherlands, and also a friend of his Martijn in Bali too. Alles goed!
After a couple of days catching up and partying, we all headed to the Gili Islands. A full days ferry ride and travel by road brought us to Gili Trawangan. The biggest of three islands, Gili T is a lovely spot of tropical heaven for diving, snorkeling, and all round relaxing. Eleven nights here involved lots of chilling out, watching movies on the beach front cinema, playing Nintendo Wii in the Irish bar and snorkeling away to our heart's content. Ironically the last part of our journey was the only one to exclude meeting any other Irish people. Two weeks of blissful chilling with Pad, Ian, Joe, the two Dutchies & Claudio, a German DJ from Frankfurt, was top! Party and relax/recover in equal amounts. Island life suited this band of humbled travelers indeed.
I shall keep this post short while the pendulum of anticipation of my return home swings between excitement and sorrow. Cheers to Claudio, Marc & Martijn for making an incredible finish to Indonesia. There is little I can say about a farewell to two of the best lads and friends I know. One is an oldie, the other a newbie but Pad & Ian have made a travel across SE Asia & Oz infinitely more enjoyable. They will be missed but good luck with travels and safe home boys. Selamat Jalan!
Next? Sri Lanka of course... My birthday has become an international event. Last year we celebrated on a chilly night in Melbourne, which seems a decade not a year ago, and this year with just Joe & I on the west coast of Sri Lanka. Sun, sea, sand & surf will be the candles on my cake... Home is not too far away now, not too far at all.

Is that not expensive for a bottle beer? 2 euro? Although when you get back it hits you hard. I nearly cried the first round I bought!
